About Micky Nye

Mentor. Leader. Author.

My Why...

There was a moment when my boss—who later became my mentor—looked at me and saw something I didn’t yet see in myself. That belief changed the way I saw my future. Today, I help others make that same shift in how they see themselves.

What I believe...

  • Everyone deserves access to a mentor.

  • Growth starts with honesty—not perfection.

  • Leadership is not a title—it’s how you show up.

  • The best guidance comes from experience—not just theory.

I didn’t follow the rules—I rewrote them.

Over the course of my career, I rose from frontline roles to become the first woman to serve as Store Manager, District Manager, VP of Operations, and eventually the only female President for a company that oversaw nine major supermarket chains.

I started as a part-time high school employee and am proud to say I worked in every single department of the store before holding numerous supervisory positions and later moving into senior leadership. I didn’t get there by waiting my turn. I got there by building strong teams, mentoring great people, and leading with heart and clarity.

When it came time to retire, I wasn’t ready to walk away. My final days on the job were filled with accolades and honors, but what struck me most were the stories—heartfelt thank-yous from people I had mentored. One by one, they shared how our conversations helped them find confidence, clarity, and courage. Some cried. Others stood up in front of peers to say: "You changed my life."

It hit me like a lightning bolt: Mentoring is the legacy I want to keep building.

That decision became the spark behind everything I do now—from mentoring leaders one-on-one to helping organizations build strong, lasting mentoring cultures. Drawing from decades of experience across operations, merchandising, and corporate strategy, I help others grow with practical tools, deep understanding, and a lot of heart.

It also led me to author three books that now serve as the foundation of my work:

  • The Mentoring Blueprint: A hands-on guide filled with tools, strategies, and templates for impactful mentoring

  • The Mentoring Blueprint Companion Book: Exercises and prompts to help leaders apply mentoring practices in real-time

  • Boldly You!: A personal and reflective journey into authentic leadership and self-discovery, written to help women lead with purpose and presence

Together, these books form the backbone of The Mentoring Edge—my mission to make high-impact mentorship accessible to professionals at every stage of growth.

Micky was a boss, mentor, and friend. She took the time to be tuff and ensure the job was done, yet took the time to teach, coach and train everyone as she went along. Her management style made everyone around her successful and it was a pleasure and an honor to work for her.

- Mike Murray

District Operations Manager

Micky took the time to teach, coach and counsel me when I didn't know I needed it. It was all about developing me to make me stronger. She was that person who always has a kind heart. She wants to see you succeed more than she does, and doesn't take the credit for any of your success.

I’m truly excited to recommend Micky as a mentor. She has a unique way of bringing out the best in people by combining honest, constructive feedback with real, actionable steps for growth. She doesn’t just offer advice—she gives you meaningful tasks that challenge you to think differently, push past limitations, and develop into a stronger leader.

Micky’s approach is direct but always supportive. If you're looking for someone to simply tell you what you want to hear, she may not be the right fit. But if you're ready to learn, take feedback seriously, and put in the work, you’ll see real progress—and so will your team. With her extensive executive experience, she understands leadership in a way that few do. She shares practical insights, leadership strategies, and real-world lessons that can help you navigate challenges with confidence.

Her mentorship isn’t just about professional growth; it’s about developing a mindset that leads to lasting success. I’ve learned so much from her, and I know that anyone willing to embrace her guidance will walk away with valuable skills, a fresh perspective, and noticeable results.
